Hebrew Senior Care Home Health & Hospice Volunteers Needed

November 20, 2015, West Hartford, CT- Hebrew Senior Care Home Health & Hospice is looking for individuals who are interested in joining our team as hospice volunteers.  Individuals in volunteer roles get the chance to interact with patients for a variety of different reasons.  Hospice volunteers provide companionship to our patients, while supporting caregivers and their families.

Some volunteers can simply help a patient by just holding their hand, while others can socialize with the patient and listen to their stories and memories.  Many of our current volunteers have a specialized skill which enhances the life of our patients.  Pet therapists, massage/Reiki specialists, multi-lingual individuals, artists, and painters volunteer their time to improve our patient’s outlook.  If you have a special gift you would like to share with a hospice patient, you may be a perfect candidate for our hospice volunteer program.  The volunteers visit with the patients any place they call home, which can be at an assisted living facility, a skilled nursing facility, an independent living community, a private home, or a hospital.

Our hospice volunteers are required to complete 16 hours of orientation training and attend 12 additional hours per year of in-service continuing education.  These educational requirements are essential for those who volunteer to understand the importance of enriching the lives of those on hospice.
